Plumber/Maintenance Technician
JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Plumber coordinates and directs the operation and maintenance of plumbing and special systems to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. To accomplish these tasks, the Lead Plumber must work closely with the staff and administration of Seaman Schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
Perform plumbing as necessary.
Coordinate and direct the operation and maintenance of plumbing and special systems and other maintenance tasks as required.
Ability to read and interpret building blueprints.
Perform carpentry and electrical work as neccesary.
Inspect and Clean gutters, drains, and roofs.
Respond to after-hour calls/emergencies including snow removal.
Respond to safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately and takes appropriate action.
Set up, take down and move tables, chairs, equipment, shelving and partitions.
Make deliveries of supplies and furniture to district buildings.
Work successfully with others; including principals, custodians, students and the public, following proper channels in communicating concerns about building or District level operations.
Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
Attend work regularly and punctually.
Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment.
Follow and maintain knowledge of all District policy(ies) and procedures.
Assist custodial as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience working in maintenance strongly preferred.
Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Ability to interact with students and staff appropriately.
Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule or diagram form.
General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use work order system, e-mail, Internet software, spreadsheet and word processing software.
Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, parents and members of the community.
Certificates as determined by the District including ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card. Must have valid Driver License. Previous hazardous communication and asbestos training preferred. License for HVAC, or Electrical, or Plumbing.
Experience in maintenance and repair of plumbing, and special systems.
Must have Commercial Plumbing Experience.

Demonstrate strength and dexterity to operate cleaning tools, tractors, and drills.
